As an active busy body, the holidays often become a time when we fall off our active routine. This is the perfect time to set up a mini goal to ensure you don’t lose too much of your current results.
Whether you are looking to stay strong, slim, trim or energized over the holiday season, a mini goal will help keep you on track. How does a mini goal work? Well, to start, it is only designed to get you through the holidays and that is it. It is meant to ensure you have freedom to enjoy the indulgence of the many waist bulging, pant unzipping meals and endless desserts.
Let’s say you want to control your blood sugar during the holidays, while still enjoying the odd sweet treat and allowing yourself to eat the extra processed carbohydrates. Here is how the mini goal would be set.
Step 1: State the goal
I will allow myself to indulge over the holidays, but will add in a food with lots of nutritional value to help offset the negative health impact.
Step 2: State the Amount & Timing
I will add in one tablespoon of Ra Energy seed mix into each meal I eat.
Step 3: State the Outcome
This will help me control my blood sugar, reduce my cravings and provide me with more energy to continue my workout routine during the holidays. .
Step 4: Decide on a Completion Date
I will do this from Dec 20 – Jan 2nd
Here is another example of a how a Holiday Mini Goal works
I want to enjoy eating during the holidays, but don’t want to gain my usually 10-15 pounds. Here is how the mini goal would be set.
Step 1: State the goal
I will allow myself to indulge over the holidays, but will add in extra exercise to help ensure I keep my weight the same.
Step 2: State the Amount & Timing:
For the beginner athlete: I will take a brisk 20 minute walk around my block as soon as I wake up for the duration of my mini goal. For the seasoned athlete: I will add 20-30 minutes of cardio to my usually workout routine or add in an extra cardio workout on days after celebrating with a holiday party.
Step 3: State the Outcome
This will allow me to enjoy guilt free indulging with family and friends while keeping my weight down during the holidays.
