Eating on the Road – did I make the healthy choice or not?

Yesterday I ate at Subway again for the first time in ten years. I was on a road trip coming back from a biking/climbing in Moab and ran out of my food I took with me to avoid eating truck stop and fast food. Not too many healthy options while on the road and Subway seemed like the best choice.

As soon as I ordered my veggie sub on multi grain bread I knew exactly what I was eating.

On the menu there was a picture of “Jared”, the once overweight guy who is now skinny, offering his favorites for a calorie reduced menu. The truth is, each option was void in healthy calories and only provided simple carbs to leave the consumer feeling tired and in need of more food. And to think I could have added chips and a big pop for only $2 more. Back ten years ago I would have taken advantage of this option, but you can’t get me on that one anymore.

Check out this amazing post from my friend “snack girl” who gives you the lowdown on Subways subs.
